Bring on the Kilts!

Congratulations to Kathie from Texas for winning this month's contest! Thank you all for leaving comments and making me smile!  Please come back next month, Nov. 25th, when I'll be giving away Wanted: Undead or Alive and Wild About You!

Last month I wrote that I would give away a copy of Vampire Mine and Sexiest Vampire Alive, but when I checked my bookcase, I was shocked to find out I don't have a copy of Sexiest Vampire Alive!  They've all been given away.  So I asked Connor whom he would like to share the spotlight with, and his answer was his Scottish buddy, Dougal. I agreed, of course. Who would want to disappoint a handsome Scotsman in a kilt?

To the left is a photo of a lone piper in the hauntingly beautiful valley of Glencoe.  Wouldn't you love to hear Dougal play the pipes? And to the right is a photo of the ruins of Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness. (No, I didn't see Nessie! I was too busy looking at men in kilts!)

Speaking of gorgeous men in kilts, we mustn't forget Jamie Fraser from the books and television series, Outlander.  While I was in Scotland, I bought a pin for Jamie, then tried to travel back through the stones to give it to him. Obviously, it didn't work and I'm still here. To the right, you'll see Cathy Maxwell making her attempt at time travel. (That also didn't work).

I bought two scarves for Connor Buchanan.  The bright one shows off the plaid he wears in his kilt.  The one in shades of brown is the hunting or natural Buchanan tartan that he would wear when he wants to blend into the landscape.  Connor is the hero of Vampire Mine, and Dougal Kincaid is the hero of The Vampire with the Dragon Tattoo.  I'm giving away a
signed copy of each book to one lucky winner.  International entries are welcome.  To enter, simply leave a comment and tell me who is your favorite Scottish hero. If you choose not to leave your email address in the comment, that's all right, but please remember to check back here in a few days in case you've won and I'm looking for you. Good luck to you all!

Some of my faves are THE CLAN MACRIEVE from Immmortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole, Jamie Fraser from Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, and lastly the 'babe magnet' Connor Buchanan from Vampire Mine. XDD

Connor is by far my favorite! He WAS a stubborn , cold-hearted guy until he finally met the woman who opened his eyes. I really enjoyed reading about him and eagerly waited each book to finally red his story! I must say it is my favorite book in the series and I loved how well it played out for him!!

I loved all the stories in the series. I grab them as soon as they come out. Connor has to be one of my favorites...he beats himself up so bad & thinks the others are making a mistake falling in love. But then it takes an Angel for him to realize he's not so bad he can't be loved & deserves to love someone.

My favorite story is probably Robbys. The obstacles he had to overcome emotionally and physically were amazing. My second favorite is definitely Connor because of what happened with the Dragnesti family. That's a lot to overcome as well. I haven't gotten a chance to read Dougals story yet but I bet it's just as amazing as the rest. Your highlanders go through so much and it's just awesome! It shows people you can get through anything if you try hard enough. I love rereading this series! It's definitely one of my favorites!

Ian McPhie is my fav. Loved the way he met his Toni, so funny and of course that he took the drug to age.
Another Scottish Hero would be William Wallace (and not only because he was played by Mel Gibson in Braveheart). He united the clans to fight the English pretty successfully till he was betrayed.

I hope I haven't misunderstood the post, since the comments I am reading appear fictional based... Oh well, here goes! =)

There are many in Scottish history that Have had a huge impact in our world events, but I have to say that the one that immediately comes to mind would be Thomas Erskine(1750-1823).

As the man who created the ACLU (American Civil Liverties Union), Erskine came from the town of Linlithgow in Scotland. Free men and woman everywhere should be grateful to this tenacious, hard-working lawyer. It was through him that personal liberties were given as a RIGHT.

Because of this, Thomas Erskine would be my selection!

Thank you for your contributions to the literary community Kerrelyn! I truly enjoy your work!

Warmly,
Shelbie Knight =)

I'm another person who cannot pick just one! I just love a man in a kilt with a brogue (and if he has long hair, it's even better). My favorite is the hero of the book I'm reading right now, that is, until I pick up the next book. Thanks for all of your hunky heroes that I have enjoyed. (I'm not typing my address directly as I'm still getting spam from the last BlogSpot post I made but I'm way too forgetful to remember to check back unfortunately.) Thanks.

John Barrowman. He isn't fiction but he is Scottish, gorgeous, funny, kind, heroic and just generally awesome. If I had to pick a fiction one it would probably be Jamie because we see his whole life and the man he becomes. Tortured but always honorable.

Hey Kerrelyn! You are indeed a cruel woman asking us to choose. I love them all. However if you are going to force the issue, I would have to go with Ian McPhee. This is such a freaky coincidence, or fate, whatever you call it. My fave Scots happen to be Connor, with Dougal coming very close second. I'm not saying this just to suck up, I really do love them. So much that once I spent an entire month's salary importing a Buchanan kilt, which I still have but barely fit anymore as I'm carrying a little Dougie (still trying out names, but Dougal is very high on my list!).
