Signed Goodies from the Underground!

****WINNER ALERT!!**** Congratulations to Amy J - Book Addict for winning a signed copy of Juliana Stone's HIS DARKEST HUNGER, to Jacqueline C. (post #64) for winning a signed copy of Kathryn Smith's BEFORE I WAKE, and to Alicia 0605 for winning a signed copy of Jocelynn Drake's DAWNBREAKER!  Thanks for sharing your karaoke choices - wish we could all hang out together and sing them at the same time!  Amy, Jacqueline, and Alicia, contact us at booksthatgobump@gmail to claim your books!

Ok, boys and ghouls, I promised you some signed goodies from some of the authors here in the Underground, gathered while we were attending the recent RWA conference in Orlando. Here are a few of us yakking it up (l to r) Juliana Stone, Pamela Palmer, Terri Garey (me), Jocelynn Drake and Joss Ware) before heading off to some of our various signings and workshops.

Lest you think it was all work and no play, however, here's a shot from the workshop we paneled on the cross-genre aspects of Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy and Sci-Fi Fantasy.  (Don't we look official?)  This motley crew, from left to right, is Juliana, Terri, Joss, Jeaniene Frost, Kelley Armstrong and C.L. Wilson.
Of course, it would be lying to say we had NO fun, as evidenced by this shot of Joss Ware, rocking out to Madonna's Material Girl during Karaoke night (I would've taken more pictures, but I was too busy singing along!)
At any rate, in between the work and the play, I made a point to snag some signed books during the conference, specifically to give away to those of you who lurk in the Supernatural Underground!

First up is a signed copy of HIS DARKEST HUNGER by Juliana Stone,

and a signed copy of DAWNBREAKER by Jocelynn Drake,

and a signed copy of BEFORE I WAKE by Kathryn Smith!

Yep, three giveaways today, and more to come (I feel like Jack Skellington in the Nightmare Before Christmas!)

So tell me, for a chance to win one of these autographed books, if you were going to Karaoke your heart out with your best ghoulfriends, what song would you choose?  (You're allowed to state your preference of books in your comment, but I can't promise that will be what you get if you win.)

Girls Just Want to Have Fun (I'll second the comment about the 80s not dying lol!)

If possible, I'd love Dawnbreaker if I were to be so lucky to win ;).

Eat the Rich by Aerosmith. (I just love Aerosmith!)

Terri Garey said...

You should've heard the crowd during "Love Shack" by the B52's!! Everyone in the place was rockin' their hearts out!

And no, the 80's will never die, which is fine with me! :-)

I believe Juliana sang something by Journey, but I missed it! :-(

I Feel Like a Woman (Shania Twain, I think?) ...well, if those ghoulfriends are female ghoulfriends. lol!

OMG, looks like you had a blast! Soooo wish I could have made it to RWA Orlando. Maybe next year. Provided the NZ/US exchange rate improves, LOL.

Karaoke song? "How To Save A Life" by The Fray.
Or an 80s rock ballad -- Pat Benatar or Meatloaf. Oh yeah!

I'd rock out to Burn it to the Ground by Nickelback :)

Easy an Evanescence song. Probably "Call Me When You're Sober". I belted that out one time when I was helping my mom do errands and I was waiting for her in my car. I thought I was alone, but no... had an audience. At least I was in tune that day. ;)

Oh, and I'd like any but Juliana's book. I already have a signed copy. :)

jeanette8042 said...

I'd probably choose Britt Nicole's Good Day! I would love Juliana's book His Darkest Hunger.

Sullivan McPig said...

Meatloaf's Paradise by the dashboardlights. I have actually sung it once with my best friend at a karaoke bar and it's fun, but quite challenging, especially the end of the song, you need a lot of lung capacity

My Life With Books - Jennifer K Jovus said...

I would sing "ghouls" just wanna have fun! ;)

I'd sing "Walking Away" by Craig David.

"Girl with One Eye" by Florence and the Machine. Totally. I sing it in the car, much to my son's chagrin. : )

Me and Karaoke, not likely to happen, but if I had to I would probably do Fist City by Loretta Lynn.

I would love to win any of these books! I haven't had the chance to read any of them yet, but they are on my TBR pile! Karaoke song of choice...hmmm....I definitely have to go with Madonna! Maybe a little Lucky Star or Holiday, I can't seem to decide between them! HAHA!

nymfaux said...

Yea!!!! Glad you had so much fun!!!!

Of course I don't know how I could choose just one of the books--They all look amazing--I'd be happy with any of them!!!!

As for karioke....My girls are all kind of These Boots Were Made for Walking/Before He Cheats kind of girls, with some Grease thrown in :)

Barbara E. said...

I would attempt to sing Mercy by Duffy - I say attempt because I'm a terrible singer.

They're all fantastic books and I'd love to win any of them - except I already have Dawnbreaker.

Patricia Lynne said...

I'd do My Life would suck without you by Kelly Clarkston and I'd get one of my best friends to sing with me (but only because I know my bf would refuse to get up on stage w/ me, I'd have to threaten his computers or something!)

ps I would love His Darkest Hunger if I won. lol

Living on a Prayer is just so much darn fun!

Terri Garey said...

Incubus! Oh, how I love Incubus, but nobody would know DRIVE.

I was told by someone in the karaoke know, that the best way to get people into what you're singing is if they can sing along.

So all of you who've picked "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"? You and me, ladies... you and me! :-)

Nicole said...

I would sing Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cindi Lauper! <3 a good 80s tune!!

Any time I really want to belt one out, I always go with Journey. Maybe Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin. That's a great one to sing at full volume.

I'd love any of the books, but I'd especially like to read Before I Wake.

Lucy S said...

Don't Stop Believing by Journey! Epic song!

Great post, Terri! Thanks for NOT posting the video of me singing. Heh.

One of the reasons I chose Material Girl is because I knew everyone would sing with me and drown me out. ;-)

Thanks all for your support of the Supernatural Underground!

Sorry forgot to add that I would love to have a copy of Before I Wake if I should win :D

I have always said there is not enough alcohol in the world for me to get up and sing but if there was......it would be Call Me by Shinedown. I probably should pick something well known so everyone would sing a long and drown me out!

Independent Women by Destiny's Child is a great karaoke song!

As I am a known bad singer, my karaoke choice would be something I couldn't mess up. Like maybe I Talk To The Trees from Paint Your Wagon. After all if Clint Eastwood can get away with it on film, I can in karaoke :D

CdnMrs said...

My best friend April and I love to sing Prince's "Kiss" there's lots of screeching and kissy noises, but if we can't do that nothing, in my opinion, is as funny as a slightly inebriated version of Wilson Phillip's "Hold On".
Good times!

Unknown said...

NO ONE would want me to sing but if I had enough to drink I'd want to get on stage with my friends and sing Total Eclipse of the Heart. Love that song.

Well, I guess I´d choose "Hit me baby one more time" from Britney Spears. That´s the kind of music I grew up with and even if some people don´t want to admit it: They do know the lyrics. Everyone does ;D
