Trick Or Treat!

Trick or treat,
Smell my feet,
Give me something
Good to eat!

Ah, saying that felt good, just like it did when I was a kid.  That's why I love Halloween so much now, as an adult... it's the one time of year I truly do get to feel like a kid again.  I can be anyone I want to be: a witch, a ghost, a zombie, a fairy princess, or even the Pillsbury Doughboy.  I can decorate my house with cobwebs and put gravestones in the front yard, I can make cupcakes with fake spiders and gummi worms on them, and spike the Halloween punch with ice molds that look like body parts.  I can turn on the fog machines, the green and purple floodlights, and have my friends over for Blood Lite and Guacamoldy (with chips!). But the best part of Halloween, to me, has always been handing out the candy to the adorable little ghouls and goblins who come knocking on my door.  We have so many kids in our neighborhood that my husband and I don't even bother to go inside... we sit on the front porch and watch the freak show parade go by.  :)

Anyway, in the spirit of Halloween (as I do every year), I'm giving away some ghoulishly great treats to my readers!

First up, during the month of October, you can not only download the e-version of DEAD GIRLS ARE EASY for the limited time price of $2.99 (that's $5.00 off!), but you can win one of the super cool DEAD GIRLS ARE EASY t-shirts to go along with it!  You can find out all the details, including quick links to all the different e-book versions, by taking a peek RIGHT HERE.

Don't have an e-reader?  No problem (even though Kindle has a PC app that will allow you to read e-books right from your desktop), because I'm giving away a couple more t-shirts AND a really cool "Come to the Dark Side" gift basket, filled with an autographed set of all five books in the Nicki Styx series, and a Come to the Dark Side, We Have Cookies t-shirt, too!

Yep, signed copies of DEAD GIRLS ARE EASY, A MATCH MADE IN HELL, YOU'RE THE ONE THAT I HAUNT, SILENT NIGHT, HAUNTED NIGHT and the anthology WEDDINGS FROM HELL, along with a t-shirt, some Halloween candy, and matching bookmarks, all in a cute Halloween tub.  No tricks, ghoulfriends, only treats, treats and more treats!  Pop on over to my special Halloween Contest Page to find out how you can enter!

In the meantime, I'm curious - anybody else out there a fellow Halloween fiend?

I love it. When we first moved here, (in the woods in Maine) we were lucky if we got two kids a year. His nieces and nephews were already teens and too old. Well, they all grew up, had their own kids, and now we're up to fifteen or twenty. I know...not many, but at least it's fun again.

I love Halloween, unfortunately, we live in a neighborhood with hardly any kids so virtually no trick-or-treating, although that never stops the hubster from buying a couple of bags of candy LOL.

I have FIVE bags of candy (all calling my name, btw), and it will all be gone by the time Halloween night is over! Not that I'll eat any of it, of course! ;-p

In my neighborhood, there's a block a few streets away where all the kids congregate so that's where everyone goes for trick or treating. I try to get dressed up but it really depends on the weather. Still, the block party is a hit every year.

YESS!!!! I am a fellow Halloween Fiend! And I've already entered your contest. :) I'm having a great time finding recipes for spooky Halloween appetizers like my barfing pumpkin, bloody punch with ice fingers, and deviled "eyes."

I totally LOVE Halloween, it's my favorite holiday of the year, I'm totally into spookey stuff. I decorate my yard with all kinds of pirates and tombstones. I no longer hand out treats, my family forbids it since 2 years ago a large child grabbed my screen door and jerked it open while I was holding on and tore my shoulder all up. I had to have surgery on it and it will never be the same.
So now I just leave a bowl outside with a note saying I'm video taping them and to only take one.
It seems to work pretty good.
thanks for the fabulous give aways.

I <3 Halloween!! I may not ever do anything, because I don't know...not the most social person because I'm super shy, but still LOVE the holiday!! Love all the decorations and costumes! One time a year when there' decor for the stuff I like, so I tend to look for things that I would display year round! Yup, I'm a geek in some ways!!

You threaten the kids with video, Bonnie? I love it - they're afraid they'll end up on YouTube as "That Mean Kid Who Stole All The Candy!"

Sorry about your shoulder. :(

I hear ya, Jessica. Some of the things I have up for Halloween I'd like to keep up year 'round, and I confess that my office tends to have more than a few things on display all the time that I just can't bear to pack away!

I live on a very quiet street with lots of houses and little traffic. However on Halloween our quiet little street becomes Grand Central. We get hundreds of trick or treaters (whose parents are often dressed up too!) and go through mountains of candy! Fortunately I work at CVS and can use my employee discount.

I LOVE HALLOWEEN! As it kid, it was the best time of year and we scoured the neighborhood like fiends. We'd use paper grocery bags and usually ended up stopping by home to get enother bag because the 1st one was too heavy. In college, there were Halloween parties and usually a huge Keg Party put on the by the school, then later as a teacher, I could decorate to my heart's content my classroom and have contests much like you do. : )
Ten yrs ago, we moved to the country and even though there were kids in the neighborhood, our doorbell failed to ring even once. I would decorate and have a big bowl of candy ready but nothing. It was a letdown of the greatest magnitude. (At one time, we had 6 kids living next door and even they didn't come.) Parents take them to the malls or private parties. The thrill of dressing up and running wild through the neighborhood has lost its place which makes me very sad. I still put out the jack-or-lantern and maybe the witch but I no longer buy candy (both hubby and I can't eat the leftovers anymore. So Halloween is always a little sad for me now but I still love it. I watch a really scary movie and eat popcorn with my hubby and scary (ha ha, scary - right) Rottweiler, Marco.
I'm glad to hear that others still have neighbors who bring their kids around. Enjoy! Everyone is a kid on Halloween not just the little goblins, ghosts and witches. Only 2 weeks away! : )

Oh, btw, in honor of Halloween coming, starting tomorrow, Monday, Oct 16, I'll be discussing the paranormal genre in Romance Novels on my blog over the next two weeks. I hope you'll all stop by occasionally and see what's happening. Would love your comments and input. : )

I love Halloween. All year long it is the one holiday I still have to look foward to. As a kid my mom made it a huge deal...and as an adult I dont have to spend it with my inlaws. I get to get dressed up and finaly release all the pent up ME that is inside and stays hidden all year long. And since I have become a mom we now make it an annual family affiar and do theme Costumes. From Ancient Greece to Japan to the Flinstones it is limitless how much fun I can have with it. So here to all the Kids at heart who share my love for this Holiday...CHEERS!
