Take a deep breath
by
Dakota Banks
Don't miss the giveaway below--it's a good one! International, ends May 4th.
Deliverance, the third book in my Mortal Path series, was released almost exactly a month ago. It's been a whirlwind month of blog appearances and reviews that netted me some great quotes!
While I'm catching my breath before plunging into the next project, I'd like to share some of them with you.
Smitten by Bad Boy Heroes
"Deliverance is another great adventure in Maliha’s quest for redemption. In my opinion, Ms. Banks has created a second to none but far from perfect heroine in Maliha and she really makes us care about her and her friends. This novel and the series in general are skillfully woven with mythology, intriguing plots and skillful characterization. This series is now one of my favorites, and I found Deliverance to be the best novel in the series so far. I’m anxiously waiting and desperate for the next one to come out! Absolutely loved it!"
Bookaholics Book Club
"Dakota Banks has delivered an incredible read that I have thoroughly enjoyed. Deliverance is sizzling hot and full of the trademark action that accompanies this fantastic series. I absolutely loved this book! The plot is outstanding as usual, full of twists and turns and incredible revelations. FANTASTIC. There aren't many books that keep me guessing until the end but I have to admit the last few pages of Deliverance gave me quite the thrill. This series is definitely one of my favourites of all time and I cannot wait for the next book!!! All I can say is: Wow. Incredible. Love it! Buy it! And if you haven 't read this series...WHY?!?! ;)"
Tynga's Reviews
"Deliverance is filled with action, suspense, raw honesty, and great drama. It's definitely the most high-stakes installment in the series yet and I couldn't put it down. Dakota has done a marvelous job of creating an untenable situation and forcing Maliha to deal with it. I'm sure you all know how much I love characters who suffer at their creator's hands and Maliha does a lot of suffering, in addition to some serious butt-kicking. There's so much good stuff in Deliverance it's hard for me to say what I liked best about it. If forced, though, I think I'd say it's that we get to see how much Maliha's relationships mean to her. Deliverance is a satisfying slice of urban fantasy, sure to please fans of the genre. I strongly encourage you to check out this book and series!"
Book Lovers Inc.
"Deliverance offers readers a pulse-pounding start. Mahila faces choices, decisions will have to be made, and it all depends on how much she’s willing to sacrifice and for whom. She has a code in her life, one she’s bound to if she going to buy back her soul, if she’s going to right the centuries of the past. But she also has another code, one she holds sacred, and that’s for the tight knit group of friends. Dakota Banks writes a series where action pours from the pages, from one heart-pounding event to another, full of action, suspense, and mystery. A strong story of lifetimes bound together, where friendship means more, where love is shared. The Mortal Path series is urban fantasy at its best and Deliverance lives up to it’s name, it delivers. Highly recommended for Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance lovers alike."

I am a reviewer, but I have to confess that I like to make my own opinion about a book. I listen to advices from friends/reviewers who have the same likes and dislike like me.
I can be persuaded by reviews - as long as the book is one that intrigues me to begin with! I am often persuaded if there are multiple positive reviews - after all a lot of people can't be wrong, can they? :)
I have to agree with Mel. If I'm undecided about a book I will go to various reviews and then make up my mind. Most times I just start hearing a lot of good things about a book at various blogs, by word of mouth are great deciders. Thanks for a great contest.

I guess it depends on the site that does the reviewing. There are some sites where the bloggers seem to enjoy the same books I do, rate them about what I would, etc. These reviews I would take more into consideration about buying a book. However, if it is an author that I am not familiar with, or if I am on the fence about the book, I will generally try to find a few excerpts to read, and download the sample from Amazon Kindle to try.
Reviews really help fuel my TBR list and I especially use them to find new authors.
Reviews increase my interest, but ultimately, I make the decision to buy a book based on what I've heard the book is about and whether I think I'll like it or not. Having read other books of the author's helps too. If it's a new author to me, the more I hear about the book, the more interested I become.
I make my own decisions but I do consider reviews. If I want to read something that only has fair reviews I will try to get it from the library instead of buying it.
Reviews do play a part in me picking up books, if I see a book, I'll get the name of it look it up on a fwe different sites and see what the "average view" is and I may still pick it up, I may pass and check it out later
It's kind of half and half for me. Reviews can point out things that maybe wern't in the blurb. But at the same time, everyone has a different opinion, so.... Yeah. Half and half :-)
Sometimes I can be persuaded by reviews, espically if they are really good. If its a bad review I hestitate to buy the book but usually end up getting it a couple months down the road!
I take reviews with a grain of salt. I like reading what other people think and have to say, but ultimately its the excerpt that makes my final decision.
Reviews affect my decision to read a book a lot.
They do affect my decision. But it doesn't matter if it's positive or negative. I recently read a book that everyone has not been enjoying just so I could say that I've read it and made my own opinion.
I do read reviews but they don't affect whether or not I'll read a book.
Reviews help, but i make my own decission wether i'll buy/read/borrow a book.
I love your work and this series. I hope you keep it going for a long time. Fun and great reads!!!! Wanted: Undead or alive was fantastic but I never doubted it would be as great as all the others.
I like to read a couple reviews to find out more about the book and kind of get a general consensus because new book money is in high demand at my house. Then after I read a book I love seeing reviews of the same book and chatting about it :)
Reviews help but they don't always determine my decision because I've read plenty of bad reviews about books that I actually bought and loved.
I have to say that I generally make my own decision about the books I read and seldom read reviews. I do however love to give reviews on the books I have read. I know that alot of people like to hear others thoughts on the books before reading. Marie melisk1966@yahoo.com
It depends on whois doing the reviews. If I know who the reviewer is I am more apt to understand their view. If I know the person doesn't thin towards the genre of the book. I proably steer away from their review.
They don't really affect my decision to buy the book.
I like to read reviews, especially the short sweet ones that say what they liked or did not like about the book without the review turning into an essay :) If I am ambivalent about a book the reviews might sway me one way or the other, but as a general rule I like to find out myself and I have gotten some stinkers and some real jewels :) Thank you for this awesome giveaway opportunity.
Reviews do affect if I buy a book.If many reviews of the particular book are good I would buy it.Also I tend to notice books with good reviews which I may have overlooked earlier.
I KIND OF GO BY AUTHORS. I KNOW WHICH ONES I'M DRAWN TO, BUT WHEN I SEE SOME REVIEWS IT JUST RE-ENFORCES MY OPINION. IT'S MORE LIKE THEY AGREE WITH ME, INSTEAD OF I AGREE WITH THEM. I KNOW IT'S KINDA CORNY BUT IT WORKS FOR ME. SO FAR I HAVE YET TO BE DISAPPOINTED.
I read reviews. However, I don't buy books because of them. What I like might not be someone elses cup o' tea.

Reviews don't affect my decision to read a book. Thanks for the giveaway
Reviews do not affect my decision if I read a book or not.I will listen/read to any review but if the description of the book gets my attention then I will read/buy the book.
melissalamb(at)musfiber(dot)com
I base 80% of my reading choices on the reviews I read, so thank you!
I don't usually pay attention to reviews from like newspapers and such. Sometimes if an author I really like/respect reviews a book favorably I'll consider reading it. And there are some people I know who I go to for book reviews because they always seem to have excellent taste
Reviews do make a difference to if I want to buy a book or not, a bad review doesn't mean I wouldn't buy it but it makes me think twice.
Reviews and referals are usually what usually helps me decide what books I would like to read.
This series looks fabulous and congrats on the great reviews.
What a wonderful giveaway!
not letting me gain entries, so comeenting only :(
The reviews don't affect my decision. I only read books which I like the story but I love to read reviews because I want know If there are others who have the same opinion of this book with me.
Thank you for the giveaway,
Artemis
well, for books I haven't heard or I'm unsure, reviews do have a great impact on me, especially if given by one of the book bloggers I know has the same tastes as I have
reviews ar sometimes efected to me, if I like the blurb, I'll get anyway
It doesn't affect my choice at all I like to see other people opinions on book for insight on it but Ill still read it to form my own opinion.

I read books because I want to read them not because someone else liked them. However, if I'm on the fence about a book I will look at the reviews to see if they will push me one way or another. I usually end up making the decision on my own though.
If I read a positive review I'm more likely to pick up the book.
I will less likely to pick up a new author is the reviews aren't great. If there are rave reviews then I'm more likely. But on authors I already love reviews won't affect my buying decision.
Great quotes so far! Can't wait to read it... bypass me for the giveaway tho, because I've already ordered, LOL.
