Hi everyone!

I am so excited to share the cover reveal for Curse of Shadows with you! The release date is TBC but I'll have that to you as soon as I am told.

The preorder process involves signing up to buy a book before it is released. The advantages for readers are:

1) not missing out on a fav author's next title
2) getting a 'preorder deal' of a lower price
3) possibly receiving a signed bookplate, bookmark or other swag
4) supporting your favorite authors.

Why Pre-orders Matter to Authors

For authors, preorders make the difference between being on bestsellers lists, (including Amazon and the NY Times) or not, and between landing their next book deal or being passed over by their publisher. 

Preorders affect the 'lay-down' of physical books requested from retailers (how many of the author's books are shipped to how many bookstores across the country) and the ranking on websites like amazon, apple and Goodreads, which determines whether a book is seen, or not.

They are that important.

So, today, perhaps you will do one or two of your favorite authors a solid. Go to Goodreads and see what they have next on offer, and preorder a copy in your favorite format, from your favorite book store.

Where can you Preorder Books?

Most likely you can preorder any book through your B&N, Dymocks, Target, Booktopia, Fish Pond, and of course these big three:

Or, your fav independent bookshop like the amazingly wonderful Mysterious Galaxy. 

Authors often have a link on their website where you can preorder their next book and doing so will really make a difference to the life of their book, and their career.

These drafts were created with the w/t of The Bone Throwers, now the series title.

Fun Jigsaw Puzzle Facts

The origins of jigsaw puzzles go back to the 1760s when European mapmakers pasted maps onto wood and cut them into small pieces with - you guessed it - a jigsaw. But the name 'jigsaw' wouldn't be applied for another 150 years. Before then, the puzzles were called 'dissecting puzzles'.

Not exactly a name that flows off the tongue...

Image III is 'Europe Divided into its Kingdoms,' a1766 puzzle drawn by London cartographer John Spilsbury. It's known as the world’s very first jigsaw puzzle.

More Facts

Jigsaw puzzles are good for the brain, waking up both left and right sides. The left side sorts the pieces logically while the right side visions the finished product and works intuitively. 

And how long does it take to make one? Guinness Book of Records has 15-year-old Deepika Ravichandran as the fastest puzzler on the planet, logging in at 13 minutes and seven seconds to complete the official Guinness puzzle on May 9, 2014.

About Beth Anne Miller:

Beth Anne Miller’s first book, written in elementary school, was bound in pink fabric and was about—what else?—a girl and her horse. She soon began cheating on horses with the sea, becoming an open water scuba diver at age 14. That love of the sea led her to a college semester aboard a schooner. She returned with fond memories of the exhilaration of being on a ship under full sail, less fond memories of hurling over the leeward rail on a daily basis, and a sailing bug she couldn’t quite shake.

In addition to horses and the sea, she has a fascination for all things Scottish (including, but not limited to, men in kilts), which she explored with her first novel, INTO THE SCOTTISH MIST (The Wild Rose Press, 2011), and carried into her new novel, A STAR TO STEER HER BY (Entangled Embrace, March 2017). A native New Yorker, Beth Anne works in the publishing industry and is always looking ahead to her next voyage, whether a short one on a dive boat or whale watch, or, with luck, a longer one on a tall ship.
