What Would Your Echo Be?

In THE BODY FINDER and its sequel, DESIRES OF THE DEAD, 16-year-old Violet Ambrose is drawn to the dead by sensory imprints that attach to them when they are killed. Yes, they must come to an untimely death to be left with one of these “echoes.” And the thing about the echoes is that they’re completely and totally random. They have nothing to do with how the person lived…or even how they died.

It can be a sound (bells, music, the sound of glass breaking)

A taste (garlic, briny salt water, caramel)

A physical sensation (brain freeze, the sensation of feathers brushing over her skin)

Or a visual echo (a glow or a burst of colors)

I was asked at the launch party for DESIRES OF THE DEAD this past weekend, if I had an echo, what would it be?

Even knowing the rules (that it has nothing to do with the individual themselves), I was still convinced that my echo would be something chocolate related. I mean, honestly, how could it not be?

So I’m asking you, if you could choose your echo, what would it be???

Be creative and let’s have some fun with this one! Leave your responses here, and tomorrow I’ll choose one random winner to receive a signed copy of my new book, DESIRES OF THE DEAD.

I’m excited! Are you excited???

EDITED TO ADD THAT THE WINNER IS: cheesecake.thief59

CONGRATS!!!!

I am totally excited! I just downloaded The Body Finder for $1.99 over at amazon.com and can't wait to start it :)

my echo would be the sound of joyous laughing cause that is how I would like to be remembered. (the chocolate thing would definitely be my next choice)

I'm going to go with the first thought that popped in my head: the sound of someone "humming"

My echo would properly be the sound of singing. I sing all the time and I think that's something I would take with me.
If I should choose a smell it would be chlorine, it's not the finest smell but I have been swimming the most of my life so it kind of stuck to me;-)

Can a book make a sound? Like the turning of a page. I love reading and I think that's what my echo would be like. That or the sound of my keyboard as I type on my laptop. Being a blogger/book reviewer and an aspiring author the sounds of my laptop keys would likely be the best echo for me!

**For I think the sound of me throwing things around my room and cursing would be too much of an echo for Violet (or anyone!) to handle!

I'd have to go with something physical... like a unusual texture or visual with lots of colors. That is how I sort of see the world, so it makes sense. So, I'd be weird and combine the two and make it a kaleidoscope of color and texture. Someone is going to get sick... I'm sure of that. Wait... is that what will remind others of me? I may need to rethink this one... lol ;D

Mine would be the scent of coffee. Or better yet, the smell of book ink. I love both.

Is it odd I like to sniff my books??...lol

I'm totally super excited!!!!!!!

My echo would have to be cheese-related. That's because I literally eat cheese with almost every meal (or eat it for a snack) and my entire family keeps telling me that one day all this cheese eating is going to kill me. I say death by cheese is better than death by serial killer! (And if it does kill me, well that would explain the cheesy echo!)

P.S. I love, love, loved The Body Finder and cannot wait to get my hands on Desires of the Dead!

Oooh, what a fabulous idea, Kimberley!

What if your echo is something horrible? Like foot odor, or a maniacal laugh? That would suck :)

I'd like covers of my books to float over my face - keep promoting even when dead :)

Fun activity! I think my echo would be a sound: the excited barking of a puppy excited to see you. That's what I'm listening to right now. Or possibly the smell of Earl Grey tea, yum.

Congrats on the release!

Flower petals. Mainly because I am allergic to most of them.

My echo would be the god-awful sound of me singing. Why? Because while I drive around town I always sing like there's no tomorrow (I can't sing worth a crap). Anyway, one day I'll be singing like I always do when BAM! I get into a deadly car accident and the sound of me singing will forever haunt that spot.

Man, I feel bad for anyone who is like Violet and has to hear that.

Congrats on the release!!

What an interesting question. The first thing that popped into my head as an echo is the color yellow. It's my favorite color because it's so bright and sunshiny.

I just started reading The Body Finder and I'm really enjoying it so far.

Casey - LMAO! I sing too. Badly!

Justine - I agree, I'll go kicking and screaming ;)

I'm going to have to agree with you Kimberly - my echo has to be chocolate related! Maybe I'll have some crazy death-by-chocolate to explain that echo (like drowning in a pool full of chocolate or something).

Can't wait to read Desires of the Dead!!
