"The Gathering Of The Lost" Is Longlisted For The David Gemmell Legend Award — Plus Giveaway!

US cover
UK/AU/NZ cover
My current exciting news is that The Gathering of the Lost, the second novel in The Wall Of Night series (HarperVoyager, USA; Orbit, UK), has just been longlisted for the international Gemmell Legend Award.

The David Gemmell Awards are given for epic, heroic, or high Fantasy novels and were established in memory of the novelist David Gemmell, whose writing epitomized the genre. The Legend Award is for the best novel published in the preceding calendar year.

Given the international nature of the award it is a tremendous thrill for The Gathering Of The Lost to have been longlisted, especially in the company of many well known international authors.

Here's a few quotes to date from authors and reviewers on the novel:

Powerful story lines, memorable characters and a vividly imagined world.” ~ Juliet Marillier

"Helen Lowe's  Wall of Night series has the potential to become a classic right up there with the likes of George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire."  ~ SF Site

Congratulations, Helen! I voted for you, and while I like both covers, I like the colors on the UK version the best. :)

I think the US cover is my fav, though I love the blues in the UK/AUS. (Sitting on the fence!)

I would love to win a copy of " The Gathering of the Lost". This series has been well and truly on my radar since "The Heir of Night" won the morning star
Award last year.

Thanks again for all the encouraging comments! :)

I have just discovered that the Legend winner gets their very own battleaxe as the award - & clearly, in an 'epic' world, every gal needs a battleaxe! :D
