My co-writer Howard takes over!

This is Howard again. Congratulations to Mindy of PA who won the prize bag and books. Thank you all for stopping by to share my coffee break. See you next month on the 25th!

Greetings. This is Howard Barr, stepping in for Mrs. Sparks while she's working on the copyedits of her upcoming book-- that is, MY upcoming book, Wild About You.  I have been growling in anticipation, waiting for her to finish my book so I can finally meet my mate. She promises me that my heroine will be beautiful and brave and everything I have ever wished for.  Will she be a were-bear like me? Mrs. Sparks is refusing to say, even after I growled at her. Excuse me now, it's time for a coffee break.

Four bear claws later...
Mrs. Sparks has informed me that I can lure more readers to this blog if I offer you a prize.  Would anyone like a fresh deer carcass? Oh, now Mrs. Sparks tells me it should be something easy to mail. And not dripping blood. That woman is so bossy.  So I'm going to give away whatever I like. After I have another coffee break.

Five cinnamon twists later...
I found a tote bag of with some signatures on it-- Suzanne Brockman, Terri Brisbin, Susan Squires, Carla Neggars. They must be authors like Mrs. Sparks. I ate all the donuts out of the bag, so now that it's empty, I'm giving the bag away.  Now Mrs. Sparks is fussing at me that I can't just give away an empty bag. Why doesn't she do her copyedits and leave me alone? All right, I'm going to put two signed books in the bag. Forbidden Nights with a Vampire by Mrs. Sparks and Real Vampires Hate Skinny Jeans by Gerry Bartlett.  Mrs. Sparks was reading that book the other day and laughing. She should have been working on my book.

So, if you want a chance to win the bag and signed books, you'll need to leave a comment. I don't care where you are in the world. Just say something nice, or I'll have to growl at you. Now Mrs. Sparks is telling me that my growl doesn't scare anyone, that I'm just a big honey bear. Humph. Tell that to the fresh deer carcass. Good luck to you all, and thanks for stopping by.  Remember Wild About You is coming out at the end of November. And now it's time for another coffee break. Would you like to join me?

WOW Howard, Can not wait to read your story, I know Ms. Sparks will do you and your mate justice. I LOVE LOVE the Love at Stake series. You have such a wonderful group of friends. As it happens my town (Greenville SC) is having it annual Scottish Parade and Games this weekend. I will be volunteering at the parade tonight. I will be scanning the crowd (after dark of course) to see if possibly Angus, Ian, Conner or Dougal may pop in... If you are not working maybe you can catch a ride with one of the guys as we have several wonderful bakeries around here and I am certain you can find very tasty bear claws...

Can't wait to read all about it.

Well Mr. Barr,
I see that Kerrelyn has not been working on your book as of late, but I don't think you need to worry about it too much; I mean look at how things turned for Dr. Phang! The retaliation of eating ALL of her donuts was not very nice either (Now she is going to have to add a challenge/plot twist in for you to deal with). I look forward to your book Howard, as I have for your friends. Good Luck and I hope you get that dude from Alaska!

Hello Mr. Howard Barr, I'm a first time reader of the blog and while I thank you for your generousness in offering to share your deer carcass I'll have to pass - sticking to mainly chicken these days (better for girlish figure). I know this may not be even close to your long awaited mate however perhaps Mrs. Sparks could "sweeten you up" and tide you over with some honey - I know, not as good as donuts but still a nice treat! I will make sure to check out Mrs. Sparks books - don't think I've read any yet however if she's reading Ms. Bartlett's book she has GREAT taste!

Swantje said...

I'd very much love to join you for another coffe break Howard (and win the bag).
I'll even bring the sweets - ever tried a "Nougatkringel"?(That’s the German word for it anyway, I don't now if there is one in English). Basically, they are chocolate with a hazelnut cream filling. Veeeery tasty

Howard said...

This is Howard, again. Thank you, ladies, for stopping by. I can no longer share the deer carcass. I ate it for breakfast. Time for a coffee break now. Those Nougatkringels sound excellent.

Loved the interview and I can't wait until I read your story. If you cook the deer meat up I'll come and enjoy it. I love some deer meat.

I am excited to about Howard's book. I've always enjoyed him and wished he got more page space.

I can not wait to read about Howard! He has always been a great, interesting secondary character and I can't wait to learn more about him. I enjoyed learning a little about him in the last book (WANTED: UNDEAD OR ALIVE).

Reading about Howard's coffee breaks really makes me crave something sweet, lol. I think I will pass on the deer carcass though.

Ann Klatt said...

Oh I missed these books... I sooo can't wait to read Howards book! I guess that means I need to have a bear claw when I read Howards book and a cup of coffee! I can't wait!!!

This is Howard again. I am concerned by this misconception that somehow I am 'cute.' I have reminded Mrs. Sparks that I shift into a huge grizzly bear, but she foolishly continues with this notion that I am cuddly. I could tear her office to shreds if I wanted to. But now she has arrived with a box of fresh bear claws, so I will have to eat first.

Sue Sattler said...

No need to worry Howard, I have great faith that you will be given a wonderful mate, one that will make you purrrr.

Snort. Now you mock me, woman.

Love the bear.

Mineliz Medina said...

Hi:

I just wanted to say that although Howard might look cuddly and all we have to remember the nature of the bear. If it smells good it's definitively food. So watch out girls if you use a honey based soap. You might get bitten and not in a nice way. So I recommend to you Mrs. Sparks to remember that when dealing with our cuddly doughnut eating bear. :)
And don't mess with my Howard!!

you are such an eloquent writer Honey Bear:)

Howard, I would love to join you for coffee...I'll even smuggle in some venison chili for you as a chaser to the donuts. I wonder if we'll be travelling to Alaska to find our who your mate is.
Cheers and playful growls your way!

HAhaha, well if this bear isn't deserving of a mate (perhaps to slap his paws when reaching for another bear claw, or to sit and enjoy coffee with) I don't know what bear would.

So cute.

Your posts are a joy and always crack me up. And, alas, now I'm hungry and haven't had a good bear claw in ages. I think I'm past due. Tell Howard he can have one too.

Debbie Emmett said...

Yay! I have been wondering when Howard would be gotten to.

Unknown said...

Dear Howard,
I, too, have been anticipating your story. I just know that Kerrelyn will give you the best mate possible. She's done so good with her match making thus far. Look at Phineas, he had options but Kerrelyn made sure that he didn't end up with that shrewd police officer. However, I would watch what you say you grizzly old bear, you snap too much at your maker she just might set you up with a shewolf. Until next time, enjoy your bearclaws and put in a good word for me, will ya? After all, I am your dearest fan.
Sincerely,
Mandi Bowman

ROTFLMAO! That was soo funny. I haven't laughed like that in a while. If Howard's book is going to be anything like this I'm gonna get stitches on my stitches.
I hope all goes well for Howard and "Mrs. Sparks" I'm looking forward to seeing his book in November, it'll give me something to look forward to during exam week.

Hi Howie,
I will be looking for the book about you November. I wondering, if she will be honeybear like you or something more wilder. Either way, I think she will be a lucky woman to caught man like you.

I am so excited for this next book. I have also read the entire series, all of them multiple times. They are my go-to books when life gets dull, so thank you Ms. Sparks, you rock! And Howard bud, I won't say you are "cute" as I know how bears can be. Plus with your NFL background I am sure you you could punt "cute" right outta the stadium. I'd say "ruggedly handsome" probably fits you better anyway. Good luck on the mate hunt :)

Howard said...

MJ, you are amazingly perceptive. At the risk of sounding vain, "ruggedly handsome" is correct. Once you see the cover for my book, and the stepback where my shirt has gone missing, you will want a were-bear of your own.

I am so glad there is Scottish men in this, i am scottish and just love the series!!

Dear Howard, I am looking forward to your story very much, as you have been a vital member of the cast and crew of the Good Vamp Team since the beginning! You are a were bear of many talents, always the gentleman when called for and also a supreme fighter when the stakes (ha!) are high. I wish you Best Wishes and Congratulations on the impending meeting of your mate. Knowing the world in which you live, you are also going to need all the good luck you can get. ( maybe save the rabbit foot next snack time?) Hope to see you soon! Mmmm maybe bear claw wedding cake?, sorry just thinking ahead!
